President of Abkhazia appealed to President of South Ossetia in connection with the tenth anniversary of the beginning of the August war.
Sukhum. 8 August. Apsnypress. President of the Republic of Abkhazia Raul Khajimba sent an address to President of the Republic of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov in connection with the tenth anniversary of the beginning of the August war.
It says:
"The tragic events of August 8, 2008, when Georgia undertook another attempt to barbarously destroy the Ossetian people, will forever remain in the memory of the people of Abkhazia. This day was marked as the beginning of a bloody five-day war, which resulted the death of many civilians.
The people of Abkhazia remember well what wounds the war inflicts. On this sorrowful day we remember the sons and daughters of South Ossetia, all those who fell by hands of the Georgian aggressor. The courageous and freedom-loving Ossetian people, having passed through trials by war, won the long-awaited victory in the struggle for freedom and independence of their homeland, choosing the way to building a free democratic state, to a bright and worthy future.
Thanks to the decisive actions of the leadership of the Russian Federation, which became the guarantor of preventing the extermination of entire nations and forced the aggressor to peace, so Abkhazia and South Ossetia today live in peace.
I wish you, dear Anatoly Ilich, and the whole people of South Ossetia a peaceful sky above your head and prosperity. "
