Sculpture projects: «we (love) SUKHUM», «yeSUKHUM» or «my SUKHUM» are at the stage of discussion

There were discussed sculpture projects of the capital's brand at a meeting of the State Commission on monumental art.

Elena Poluyan. Introducing the project of initiative youth group "Republic of Ideas", one of its authors Rustam Anshba informed that it contains two stages of its implementation. Firstly, the establishment of a sculpture on the square of S. Bagapsh in English and, secondly, the creation of the same sites in other parts of the capital in the Abkhazian and Russian languages.
 
 Rustam Anshba explained the choice of the English language of a sculpture - a brand of Sukhum: "Since today English is the international language of communication, including the network, the implementation of the first sculpture in English language gives access to a huge audience". And most importantly, at the international level involves the dissemination and implementation of the right transcription of the name of the capital of Abkhazia.
 
 At the same time the discussion of the Commission involved three variants of sculpture, with the writing of the capital's brand as «we (love) SUKHUM» (we love Sukhum), «yeSUKHUM» (yes Sukhum) or «my SUKHUM» (my Sukhum).
 
 Discussing the project, MP Akhra Bzhaniya said: "The idea is correct. The sculpture can become a place of attraction of attention. But the Abkhaz capital's name - "Aҟәa" must also be present in the city, at the site of the mass flow of tourists". Deputy Sergey Shamba stressed that counting on the fact that the photos on the background of the sculpture will fall into the social network, it is equally important to consider what the background will be present at these photos. "We need to bring the whole area, all the buildings in order", - he said.
 
 For his part, chairman of the Union of Artists Adgur Dzidzaria suggested to reflect on the very idea of ​​the sculpture: "There is no flavor" At the same time, he put forward a number of possible embodiments of the inscription «yeSUKHUM» (yes Sukhum).
 
 RA President's Advisor on Culture, Science and Education, Vladimir Zantariya stressed the importance of this discussion - not after the launch of the project, but before the start of its implementation: "The mistake is that when the issues of national importance raise, the idea should be discussed at the Commission under the Cabinet of Ministers immediately after it appears. Now the question we are discussing is already at the second round. " And, in turn, made a proposal on the second phase of the project: "In my opinion, it would be nice to set sculpture titled "Aҟәa" on mountain Sukhum. And to light it, so it look beautiful in the night".
 
As a result, the Commission unanimously voted in favor of the project. At the same time, it was decided to establish a working group to consider all options for the sculpture and then approve the final version of the Commission. In addition, it was proposed to include funds for the implementation of the second phase of the project in budget of 2017 - the creation of the sculpture with all the historical names of the capital of Abkhazia, and another - the name of the Abkhazian capital on the mountain Sukhum.
