Sergey Lavrov and Viacheslav Chirikba will discuss the strengthening of foreign policy cooperation

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia Vyacheslav Chirikba will make a working visit to.

Russia on March 10-12,  at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.

During the upcoming March 11 talks, the ministers will discuss further development of friendly relations between our two countries, improving full-scale interstate cooperation and the strengthening of foreign policy cooperation, based on the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the two countries on cooperation in the international relations of 23 December 2008.

There will also be an in-depth exchange of views on topical international issues, topics of cooperation in the framework of the Geneva discussions on stability and security in the Caucasus, in which Abkhazia receives equal participation.

"By recognizing the independence of Abkhazia in 2008, Russia acted as a guarantor of our existence as an independent state and a peaceful future for the Abkhazian people. Our interstate relations, built on the basis of alliance and strategic partnership, are developing dynamically.

In the context of persistent refuse of Tbilisi to sign binding agreements on the nonuse of force, special urgency keeps Russian-Abkhaz security cooperation. On the basis of the bilateral agreements on the territory of Abkhazia, Russian military base deployed, our border guards guard the borders of the Republic of Georgia.
Russia has an extensive help Abkhazia, implementing the Investment Program to promote socio-economic development of the Republic of Abkhazia for 2015-2017 years. This is the aim and solutions of  bilateral intergovernmental commission co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexander Khloponin and the Prime Minister of Abkhazia Beslan Butba.

Formed a solid legal framework for bilateral cooperation, about 90 documents of different levels. Its basis is the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance of 17 September 2008 and the Treaty of Alliance and Strategic Partnership of 24 November 2014, which entered into force on March 5, 2015.
We will continue to further develop and update the legal framework of our relations. Now preparing to sign another order of 30 treaties and agreements, as well as sectoral instruments in the development of the Treaty on the alliance and strategic partnership, which will reflect the new aspects of cooperation on defense and security, social, humanitarian and other areas of cooperation.

Visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia, of course, will give an additional impetus to the development and strengthening of cooperation between the two countries", - said in a commentary of the Information Department of the Foreign Ministry of Russia.
