October 30 - Day of Science of the Republic of Abkhazia. On this day in 1997 were elected the first members of the Academy of Sciences of Abkhazia.
Sukhum. October 30. Apsnypress. Irena Jopua. About the Formation of Science in Abkhazia and the establishment of the Academy of Sciences told the first president of the RA ASA (ANA) , academician Shota Arstaa.
'The Academy was established, mainly in order to develop a science of Abkhazian and Abkhaz language, literature, folklore, culture, history and archeology", - Arstaa stressed. Today, there are fundamental academic writings in all areas of the abkhazian science.
"Our scientists had many obstacles in the Soviet era. We had very prominent scientists then. We intensively and effectively studied abkhaz science, but only with the creation of our Academy had had the opportunity to freely write and publish academic works.
