The event was organized by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Abkhazia under the auspices of the State Museum of Military Glory to of V.G. Ardzinba and the Association of Women with Disabilities, members of hostilities of the War of Abkhazia.
Sukhum. April 6. Apsnypress. At the event sounded Wartime songs performed by pop artists of Abkhazia, veterans of the War of Abkhazia, Lali Isiani, Indira Malia, Natalia Sangulia, Feruza Colbaya, Daniil Zardaniya, Vitaly Abgadzhava, Dmitry Kokoskeriya etc.
"I am pleased that in these memorable days Russia and Abkhazia honor the Great Victory Day together. This confirms our brotherhood and our strategic partnership", - said in his speech Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in Abkhazia Semyon Grigoriev.
Vice-President of Abkhazia Vitaly Gabniya congratulated the veterans and told them that after the holiday it is planned to generate extra-budgetary fund for the support that will provide them with financial assistance. "We must think of you not only in the Victory Day", - he stressed.
"I went through the whole war and during the Victory Day parade felt great joy because we won and survived. However, this war was not my last, during the war of Abkhazia, I brought medicines for Abkhaz fighters from Armenia", - told "Apsnypress" Arsen Chakryan, WWII veteran, a member of the first Victory Day parade on Red Square in 1945.
According to the adviser of the Russian Embassy to Abkhazia Georgy Krylov, such events are held annually since 2009 to pay tribute to the veterans and to honor the memory of fallen soldiers.
