State Standard: material and technical base of public sector tourism enterprises have completely outdated

Sukhum. August 17. Apsnypress. State Committee of the Republic of Abkhazia on standards, consumer and technical supervision, in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Abkhazia "On approval of the rules of certification of tourist product", together with representatives of the Ministry of the Republic of Abkhazia on resorts and tourism, held events on certification of tourism accommodations. 

From June 22 to August 12 were checked 105 sites, regardless of their legal form. Certification was carried with the representatives of the technical and energy supervision.  

Conformity assessment carried out by a group of objects of criteria: the presence of regulatory documentation: requirements for public health facilities; in public spaces; additional services to the premises; general requirements for the numbers; technical equipment rooms; room service furniture and equipment; evaluation of accomplishment of adjoining territory, the beaches and their improvement; the state of the energy sector; overall assessment of the technical condition of the object; occupational health and safety, as well as evaluation of the engineering and technical equipment of the object.  

During the event, were revealed major violations in this industry: 

1. Lack of regulatory documentation of commissioning the object. 

2. The absence of a standard guest house. 

3.Violations of regulatory framework in the course of business, catering facilities in the tourist accommodation. 

4. The public sector tourism enterprises are equipped with fully outdated material and technical base. 

Due to the fact that tourism is a priority sector of our nation, State Standard of the Republic of Abkhazia is planning together with the Ministry of Resorts and Tourism of the Republic of Abkhazia, to draft a "uniform system of classification of tourism accommodation" in Abkhazia. 

Formation of the quality management system and process of classification of hotels are interrelated processes. System of quality management is forming depending on which category has a hotel. The lower the category of the enterprise, the lower the quality requirements the system include. Furthermore, the above system would allow for each of the players in the tourism market to determine their rights, obligations and responsibilities, press service of the State Standard of the Republic of Abkhazia.
