Tamaz Tsakhnakiya: the time when we must leave behind all that is unnecessary and consolidate has come

Minister of Health and Social Welfare of the Republic of Abkhazia made a statement.

Sukhum. April 9. Apsnypress. The press service of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of the Republic of Abkhazia spread an appeal of Minister Tamaz Tsakhnakiya to the country's medical community.
 
 The appeal says:
 
 “Dear colleagues, dear friends!
 
 Today I am addressing each of you in a difficult time for all of us. The international community faces the challenge of fighting the new coronavirus infection COVID-19. The whole world has risen to fight for the preservation of people's health. The World Health Organization has recognized the current situation as a pandemic for the spread of COVID-19. At the forefront of this struggle are - doctors. Doctors of various specialties, nurses who all over the world save the health and lives of people, often risking and even sacrificing our own.
 
 Given the current epidemiological situation around the world, in neighboring countries, as well as cases of detection of coronavirus in our country, we are entering a decisive phase of combating pandemic - the most difficult one. And here we need to take all comprehensive measures to localize the focus of infection, make every effort to counteract its spread in our republic, provide patients with everything necessary for diagnosis and treatment, including those suspected of COVID-19. And in these conditions, each of the health workers at all levels, together with local authorities, should call on citizens to personal responsibility for their health, as well as the health of their near and dear ones, to strict observance of quarantine and all emergency conditions.
 
 Dear colleagues, primarily on our shoulders today lies a colossal responsibility in terms of fulfilling our direct professional and official duties. Our duty is to constantly remember the behavior of the medical professional, who should be personally responsible for every word spoken. Indeed, this example can become both inspiring and saving, and lead to negative consequences, spread of panic, cause gossip, which in today's conditions is categorically unacceptable.
 
 Friends, the time when we must leave behind everything that is unnecessary and interfere concentrated and effective work, professionalism, consolidate doing our job, has come. As we always did. Including the test years. The peculiarity of this pandemic is in high probability of deaths, but the doctors of the Republic of Abkhazia are doing everything necessary and depending on them to minimize the negative consequences of the disease, conducting a full course of treatment in accordance with WHO recommendations.
 
I express my gratitude to our medical workers for their high professionalism, responsibility and selfless work in today's difficult working conditions. ”
