Heads of the State Committee for Ecology and the State Administration for Land Use and Cadastre were invited to the meeting.
Sukhum. June 25. Apsnypress. Prime Minister of the Republic of Abkhazia Alexander Ankvab, at a meeting with chairman of the State Committee for Ecology Savely Chitanava and head of the State Administration for Land Use and Cadastre Adamur Akhuba discussed the implementation by entrepreneurs of rules and principles for production of inert materials in river channels.
Savely Chitanava noted that the extracted materials are very important components of river ecosystems, and the rivers in Abkhazia are very vulnerable, uncontrolled production and unregulated production quotas can have adverse environmental consequences.
Chitanava also reported to prime minister that in the districts control is carried out by representatives of the Committee. However, in the near future a working group of experts will be formed, which will determine whether there is a need to revise the regulatory legal acts that regulate activities in this area and determine the maximum volumes and rules for working in channels.
According to Adamur Akhuba, it is important to improve control over the implementation by enterprises of the rules defined by environmentalists, for example, by conducting regular topographic surveys at production sites.
Following the meeting, Alexander Ankvab instructed to submit an opinion to the Cabinet of Ministers at the end of the inspection activities.
