The Ministry of Defense celebrated the 23rd anniversary of Victory in the War of Abkhazia

The solemn meeting devoted to the 23rd anniversary of Victory in the War of Abkhazia was held at the RA Ministry of Defense.

Sukhum. September 28. Apsnypress. Irena Dzhopua. The festive event was attended by Vice-President Vitaly Gabniya and Prime Minister Beslan Bartsits.
 
 On the eve of Victory Day and Independence of Abkhazia Defense Minister, Gen. Mirab Kishmariya congratulated the servicemen and veterans on the 23rd anniversary of Victory. "This holiday will forever remain in our hearts as a symbol of heroism and unparalleled courage of the people who fought for peace in our troubled land. Victory Day is a day of remembrance, a day of national pride, a day of unity of the fraternal peoples who together fought against the Georgian aggressors ", - Kishmariya said.
 
 Defense Minister noted that on these days the country remembers the heroes of the War of Abkhazia, honors their immortal feat. "We will never forget that victory,  the best sons and daughters of Abkhazia laid down their lives on the altar, the volunteers of the North Caucasus, Southern Russia, representatives of foreign diasporas. In the fight against Georgian invaders were killed more than 2,500 defenders of the fatherland. The memory of their heroic deed will live forever", - said the Minister of Defence.
 
 For his part, Vice-President Vitaly Gabniya noted that the war divided the life of the citizens of Abkhazia into "before" and "after". "We have lost fathers, brothers, friends, without which our life is not complete. We survived and were able to win, because we were united. On behalf of the President and myself, I congratulate us all on Victory Day. I wish you all peace and prosperity ", - said the vice-president.
 
 During the event, were awarded diplomas, medals and titles.
 
It ended with a solemn meeting and a festive concert.
