Sukhum. November 7. Apsnypress. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia commented on the telephone conversation of the US Vice President J. Biden with Prime Minister of Georgia G. Kvirikashvili, a message which is posted on the official website of the White House. In the course of conversation D. Biden, in particular, "confirmed the US support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders, and condemned Russia for ratification of the agreement between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation on the combined forces".
The Foreign Ministry of Abkhazia believe that "regularly repeated by officials of Western countries propaganda phrases about "the territorial integrity of Georgia" and "internationally recognized borders" will not change the reality, established in 1993, after the Abkhaz people's victory in a bloody war, and enshrined in 1999 by the Act of independence of the Republic of Abkhazia. In August 2008, the Russian Federation, in full accordance with international law, recognized the Republic of Abkhazia as a sovereign state, which was a milestone in the struggle of the people of Abkhazia for self-determination".
In addition, Foreign Ministry noted: "The friendly relations between Abkhazia and Russia, built on a solid legal foundation, intensive development in all areas of bilateral cooperation, including the military sphere. The Agreement on the Joint Group of Troops (Forces) of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Armed Forces, concluded on November 21, 2015, providing the establishment of a common defense and security space, is the result of the mutual interest of the two countries, and fully meets the interests of Abkhazia and Russia.
Decision on the conclusion and ratification of bilateral treaties and agreements between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation are the exclusive prerogative of the supreme authorities of the two states and it does not require "approval" of any countries, including the United States".
