The opening of borders does not imply the lack of a border - Khadjimba

"If the border procedures that currently exist at the border will be minimized , the sovereignty of Abkhazia will not suffer", - said the President of Abkhazia today at a press conference.

Sukhum. March 11th. Apsnypress. At a press conference with the media of RA the President Raul Khadjimba told about the prospects of the border with Russia. "We often cite the example of the relations in this area, which are formed in Europe, - said Khadjimba. - But the  opening of the border does not imply the absence of the border. And if the border procedures that currently exist at the border will be minimized , the sovereignty of Abkhazia will not suffer. Just as in Europe have not lost sovereignty France, Germany and other countries".

Regarding the timing of the opening of the border, the President noted that there is still the complexity of a technical nature: it is necessary to solve the problems of protection of the marine section of the border of Abkhazia, as well as the strengthening of border crossings in the Gali district. "From the number of border crossings does not depend on the effectiveness of their work. We talked about this with the representatives of international organizations, embassies, which are in Georgia. In Soviet times, almost acted only two transition - on the railway sector and on the road. And that was enough. Today, therefore, seeks to improve the infrastructure and roads in the Gali district, which will solve the problem of legal border crossing, where it should be, and move people to the area and throughout the territory of Abkhazia", - said Khadjimba.
