The Parliament urges to remain calm in order to achieve peace and social harmony

Parliamentarians of the National Assembly of Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia made an appeal to the people of Abkhazia, leadership and political organizations of the country.

Sukhum. December 13. Apsnypress.  The appeal says:
 
 "The People's Assembly of the Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia, as the highest legislative body, representing the interests of all the people of Abkhazia expresses serious concern emerging socio-political tensions in the country.
 
 In connection with the opposition's declaration demanding the President's resignation and holding of gathering, scheduled for December 15, 2016, in order to find the necessary measures to overcome the internal political contradictions, the Parliament adopted a Resolution on 5 December 2016, number 4290-a-V with an appeal to the holding political consultations between the leaders of political organizations and the country's leadership. With participation of the People's Assembly there were held several meetings with representatives of the bloc of opposition forces and political parties of Abkhazia.
 
 Taking into account systemic and cyclical political crises over the past 15 years, the Parliament proposed measures to overcome the current political tension, as well as prevent the development of negative scenario in the future. First of all, the model of changing the Constitution, implying a redistribution of powers between the executive and legislative branches of government, the formation of the Government of the legislature, which in turn, will contribute to the efficiency of public administration.
 
 In addition, during the consultations there were discussed a possibility of formation of the Constitutional Court and the Central Election Commission, as well as a number of appointments in view of the opposition proposals.
 
 All the proposed measures have been discussed with the President, found his principal agreement and understanding of the need to implement them. Also these measures are supported during regular consultations with the representatives of political parties.
 
 Realizing the danger of social and political confrontation, we call on the leadership, all political forces of the country to realize the full responsibility of political destabilization and possible irreversible consequences in the life of our state.
 
 Operating exclusively in the legal field, in accordance with the Constitution, we should take all necessary measures to resolve the political crisis and the achievement of national consensus on the basis of constructive dialogue and mutual respect. There is no alternative. We are one people, this is our strength! There is no case, when the parties have not had found a political compromise the in modern history of Abkhazia. Let it be found now!
 
 It is not permissible to put the fate of the country and future generations at the mercy of their political preferences.
 
 We appeal to the people of Abkhazia to show its inherent wisdom and prudence, to remain calm in order to achieve peace and social harmony.
 
The People's Assembly of the Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia in accordance with its constitutional mandate will continue to take all necessary measures to stabilize the political situation".
