Sukhum. 20 June. Apsnypress. Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Abkhazia Astamur Ketsba held a working meeting on documentation of citizens of Eastern Abkhazia in the Administration of Gal District.
  
  Acting Head of the district Temur Nadaraya told Astamur Ketsba about the state of affairs in the region. According to him, documenting residents with passports of a new type is, in fact, not a procedure for exchanging an old passport for a new one, but for an entirely new certification, with all the checks and other procedures that follow from it. "This is due to the fact that the passports issued before 2014 to residents of Eastern Abkhazia on permission of the passport commission were found invalid. The law allows dual citizenship with only one foreign state - Russia. That is, the applicant passes proper checks to confirm Abkhaz citizenship, as well as to exclude the citizenship of another state, " - said Nadaraya.
  
 In turn, head of the Passport Department of Gal district, Timur Minaya, cited statistics according to which up to 200 residents of the district received passports of a new sample, 7,784 applications for residence permits were accepted, including issued 3,504, ready to issue - 284.
  
 Head of Passport Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Abkhazia Eduard Manargiya spoke about the problems. According to him, among the main difficulties is a complicated system of documentation and a shortage of qualified personnel. "Employees do not cope with the flow of incoming documents. The staffing is necessary, " - Manargiya said.
  
 Summing up the discussion of the issue, Astamur Ketsba noted: "The work of the Passport Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia requires full cooperation with district administrations, migration service, and district militia departments."
