The Republic of Abkhazia will continue to develop comprehensive ties with a large Abkhaz diaspora in Turkey - Foreign Ministry

RA MFA commented on the orders of the head of the Abkhaz government to work out the temporary restrictive measures in respect of certain goods whose country of origin is Turkey.

"As you know, on January 11, 2016 in accordance with Article 4 of the Treaty between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation on the alliance and strategic partnership of 24 November 2014, which provides a coordinated foreign policy with the Russian Federation, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Abkhazia ordered the instructions for individual agencies to prepare proposals for the development of temporary restrictive measures in respect of certain goods originating in the Republic of Turkey and the strengthening of control over the interaction of public institutions of Abkhazia with organizations under the jurisdiction of the Republic of Turkey or controlled by the Republic of Turkey.
 
 In taking these steps, the Republic of Abkhazia acts in accordance with existing bilateral Russian-Abkhazian agreements and mutual obligations assumed. The Russian Federation is an important strategic partner of the Republic of Abkhazia, providing full support and assistance to our republic. Abkhazia supports the foreign policy of Russia, and in particular, the Russian initiative aimed at reducing tensions and establishing peace in the Middle East.
 
It should be emphasized that the Republic of Abkhazia will continue to develop comprehensive ties with a large Abkhaz diaspora in the Republic of Turkey, which is an integral part of the Abkhazian people. We regard them as citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia, therefore, these measures can not relate to our cooperation", - says the commentary.
