The WW II veteran, writer and public figure Alexander Taria had passed away.

Alexander Miktatovich - is a veteran of World War II, for having the courage and fortitude during World War II was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War 1st degree, two Orders of the Patriotic War, 2nd degree, medals "For courage", "For the defense of the Caucasus", "For military valor", "For victory over Germany" and more than 25 memorable gifts, diplomas and honors, known as a writer and public figure. For many years he worked as the director of the Abkhazian State Museum, led the Abkhazian national organization of veterans of war, labor and Armed Forces, was a member of the Union of Journalists of the Republic of Abkhazia.

During the War of Abkhazia Alexander Taria managed to save up to 99% and 100% of the exhibits art works of the Abkhazian state museum relating to the history and culture of the people of Abkhazia.
