The XXXVII meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) took place in Gal

The thirty-seventh meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) was held in the town of Gal.

Sukhum. July 7. Apsnypress. At the meeting was discussed a number of issues, including the abduction of the head of the Gal district election commission David Sigua in Gal on 3 February 2007, killing of the servicemen of Defense Ministry Colonel Edward Eminzade in the town of Gal on October 22, 2008, overview of the situation on the ground.

Within the framework of the review of the situation on the ground, the Abkhaz side raised the issue about the cache with weapons, ammunition and explosives detected in the Gal district. According to operational information available in SSS of Abkhazia, the cache was equipped by sabotage and reconnaissance groups of Georgia.

The Georgian side raised the question of the incident that occurred on the Abkhaz-Georgian border on May 19, 2016, where a conflict occurred on the territory of the "Nabakia" checkpoint in the village of Bataiguara between the serviceman of the military border detachment of the State Security Service of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Georgian citizen Giglo Othozoriya, who was in the state of intoxication. Othozoriya was denied entry into Abkhazia due to the lack of necessary documents. Events have moved to the Georgian side, where Othozoriya was shot and killed. The two sides exchanged views on the ongoing investigation of the murder.

In general, the meeting was held in a constructive atmosphere. The parties agreed on the need to continue the work of the IPRM format. It was agreed that the next meeting of the IPRM will take place in the town of Gal on 2 August 2016.

Thirty-seventh meeting of the IPRM on the Abkhaz side was headed by the Deputy Chairman of the State Security Service of the Republic of Abkhazia Vladimir Arlan. The Abkhaz group included the head of the Gal district department of SSS Timur Shergeliya, deputy head of the central office of the State Security Service of the Republic of Abkhazia Astamur Kolbaya, head of the Gal district department of the Interior Ministry of the Republic of Abkhazia, Gia Chachkhiani, head of the Information department of the MFA of the Republic of Abkhazia Tengiz Tarba.
