The work was traditionally conducted in two groups - on security and humanitarian issues.
Sukhum. July 1. Apsnypress. The work of the first working group on security issues was devoted to discussion of non-use of force, to ensure humanitarian rights of the residents of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, the removal of barriers to their international communication, including the visa policy of the European Union and other aspects related to the achievement of lasting conditions for peace and stability in the South Caucasus.
In the first and second working groups Abkhaz side read a statement related to the fact of discriminatory refusal to the National football team of the Republic of Abkhazia to participate in the championship of the Confederation of Independent Football Associations (ConIFA) in Hungary. Systematic failures by a number of European countries to grant visas to Abkhazian students, dance groups, sports teams, shows actual humanitarian blockade of the civilian population of Abkhazia by a number of European countries. If the situation with visa policy will not change, Abkhazia is ready to take measures that will be an adequate response to the attempt of isolation of the civilian population of Abkhazia from the outside world.
Abkhazian side distributed priority list of archival materials and technical documentation under the program for the return of the cultural heritage of Abkhazia in the group on humanitarian issues. Was announced a difficult ecological situation with Colchis boxwood and offered solutions with the involvement of international organizations and experts.
Georgian side handed over to the Abkhaz side the next package of digitized archival documents. The parties reached an agreement to continue working in this direction in the fields of Geneva discussions.
In discussing the issue related to the UN General Assembly resolution submitted by Georgia on the draft resolution on internally displaced persons and refugees from Abkhazia and South Ossetia, Abkhaz and South Ossetian participants in protest left the second working group.
The next round of Geneva Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia is scheduled for October 6 - 7.
