Vadim Potomsky: Starting this year we will create Orlov-Abkhaz economic arc which will be capable to lift the economy of our region and your country

Sukhum. June 2. Apsnypress. "During and after the war of Abkhazia our country have developed strong friendly ties with Oryol. Leadership and the people of this region have done a lot to alleviate the situation in Abkhazia which was after the war. And today, in the continuation of those traditions, I would like to give a new impetus to the strengthening of our relations", - said opening the meeting, Prime Minister Artur Mikvabia. 

According to him, after the presentation of the program of interaction with the Oryol region, it will be signed an agreement on cooperation and set up a special working group which will develop a specific plan of activities aimed at further development of bilateral relations in the economic, cultural and social spheres of life. 

Talking about investment opportunities and needs of the region, Deputy for Economy and Finance and the Governor of Oryol Region, Prime Minister Mikhail Babkin said that the scope of the mutual interests of the Oryol Region and Abkhazia covers a wide range of economic and social aspects. We can cooperate in many fields, ranging from engineering, pharmaceuticals, instrumentation, agricultural and ending with cultural and educational. "The Government of the Oryol region is entirely interested in developing partnerships with our friends. This cooperation opens up a number of opportunities for the creation of cooperative enterprises and business cooperation", - said Babkin. 

Recall that the agreement on cooperation with this region of the Russian Federation had consisted in Abkhazia in 2003. But, as Prime Minister noted, today there are new opportunities for cooperation. "We can fill the Russian market with our agricultural products by import substitution program. And this is one of the most promising topics that would be discussed with representatives of the Oryol region", - said Arthur Mikvabia. 

According to the Governor and the Chairman of the Government of the Oryol region Vadim Potomsky, last year the trade turnover between Abkhazia and Orel was 400 thousand dollars. "The agreement which we are going to sign really get a boost to development. Because it interests both countries, and we are ready to implement reserves which are formed in the area. And invest in friendly countries. Therefore, I am convinced that starting this year we will develop a number of positions of interaction and create Orlov-Abkhaz economic arc which will be able to raise the economy of our region and your country", - said the Governor. According to him and the RA Prime Minister, there already is  a project on creation of the Abkhaz-Orlov trading houses which stand out for the area in the territory, both in Abkhazia and Oryol. 

"We have an understanding on the first phase of mutual cooperation, where to go and what to do. And things  we are laying today, soon will get profits"- said at the end of the meeting Artur Mikvabia.
