Veterans of Gulripsh district were awarded commemorative medals

Russian Ambassador to Abkhazia Semyon Grigoriev handed five veterans of the Great Patriotic War medals on the seventieth anniversary of the Victory.

"For sixty-fifth anniversary of the victory the Russian Embassy together with community organizations restored memorial complex in the village Pshap, where are buried the soldiers, died in hospital. This year, the Victory Day is planned to repair the Memorial in Dranda", - shared his plans with veterans Grigoriev.
In addition, he expressed the hope that national and local authorities will pay attention to this problem. Head of Administration of Gulripsh district Aslan Barateliya thanked the Russian government that they remember the veterans , and all awards are given to them personally.
"On May 9, we will have large-scale events throughout the area", - said Barateliya. Of the five veterans to come to the presentation of the administration of the district could only two - Catherine Syniavskaya and Andronicus Topchyan. Ivan Razorenov was awarded the medal at home. And two of the veterans, Akakiy Malaniya and Smbat Nersesyanu awards will be presented later.
In the district live nine veterans, but because of the fact that four of them are registered in the Russian Federation, they should get a medal in the military at the place of registration. Russian Ambassador to Abkhazia Semyon Grigoriev promised to solve this issue in the near future.
"We are taking action to get these medals in the military enlistment offices and transfer them to the head of administration for delivery to veterans", - he said.
