Appeal to MPs of the RA People's Assembly of the Parliament.
Sukhum. March 25. Apsnypress. Veterans of the war of Abkhazia appealed to the deputies of the People's Assembly of the Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia with the requirement to amend the laws on the election of deputies of all levels, and in the Law on Elections of the President of the Republic of Abkhazia. According to the veterans, the amendments should reflect the prohibition of the resolution to run for all elective positions of individuals who ignore the public announcement of general mobilization made by the President of the Republic of Abkhazia V. Ardzinba on August 14, 1992, and did not comply with the order.
The authors of the statement believe it is "necessary to adopt a law prohibiting the deserters to be appointed to senior positions in all the public authorities".
"We believe that people, whose age and state of health obliged them to defend the country, but failed to fulfill their sacred duty, should not have the right to hold senior management positions in our country.
Besides, legally, they fall under the article of the Criminal Code in force at the beginning of the war: Article 82 - "Evasion of mobilization", Article 265 - "Desertion", Article 267 - "Evasion of military service". These amendments do not apply to citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia, which in 1992 was less than 18 years ", - the statement says.
The appeal was signed by:
I. Ch. Gunia - Chairman of the NGO "Aruaa";
G.M. Bigvava - Chairman of the OD "Abaash";
V.G. Ashba - Chairman of the Union of Veterans of the battalion "Gorets";
L. B.Marganiya - Chairman of the Union of Sisters of Mercy of the Republic of Abkhazia;
L. A.Tarba - Chairman of the NGO "Association of Disabled Women participants of the War of Abkhazia of 1992-1993".
